In 1973, he received his BS Pre-Dentistry degree from the Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, TN. In 1975, he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee Center for Health Sciences in Memphis. For over 34 years he has been a member of The American Dental Association, The Tennessee Dental Association, and the 2nd District Dental Society. He has received Fellowships Awards from The Academy of General Dentistry, The Tennessee Dental Association and The American Endodontic Society, in which he also has a Mastership Award. President of Second District Dental Society 2011-2012. Pierre Fauchard Academy member for his excellence in the dental profession, 2011. Dr. Michael E Bowman, was inducted as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists at its 82nd Annual Convocation in Las Vegas, Nevada on October 10, 2011. An honorary organization for the recognition of outstanding and meritorious service to the profession and community, the College presented Dr. Michael E Bowman with a membership plaque, a gold lapel pin and a gold key symbolic of this Fellowship for conspicuous service rendered the art and science of Dentistry. In an impressive cap and gown ceremony, almost 300 dentists from the United States were inducted into the College at this years ceremony witnessed by hundreds of members and guests. The college, with representative chapters in more than 80 countries, has over 11,00 members, including about 6,500 in the United States. He and wife Carolyn reside in West Knoxville. Both are active members of the local Dental Society and Auxiliary. They have two children. Jason, who is married and resides in Memphis while attending dental school. Jennifer, works with Dr. Bowman as a registered dental assistant, resides in Knoxville. He enjoys attending University of Tennessee Basketball and Football games and has a love of golf.
